Meet Abeni Watts, a junior Marketing major from Philadelphia, PA. I asked her a few questions about her natural hair journey.

Here is what she had to say.

1. How long have you been natural? Why did you go natural?
I’ve been natural my whole life. I’ve had locks until the 8th grade when I cut my hair.
2. What are your favorite products?
My favorite products are eco styler gel and Eden body works curl defining cream.
3. What are your least favorite product you’ve tried
I don’t have any least favorite products I just don’t like products that don’t mix well with eco styler gel.
4. What’s your regimen?
I wash my hair 1-2 times a week. On my wash days I use any shampoo I have lying around. Most recently I’ve just been using African black soap. Once my hair is washed and the water is shaken out I rub some coconut oil through my hair. Then working on sections I comb through eco styler gel and then eden body works curl defining cream. I finger coil about half my head all the sections that don’t get very defined curls. I then pull my hair into two ponytails and leave that for about an hour or two. I blow dry and pick my hair to make sure it’s stretched and has volume. I apply extra product around the perimeter of my head and brush that up really well. I pineapple and let my hair set and completely dry over night.
6. What edge control do you use?
I use eco styler gel as my edge control.
7. Where do you see your look going next?
Next I will most likely do faux locs.
8. Do you have any advice for people with natural hair?
The only advice I have is to truly find what products work best for you and stick to them. Experimenting with products is one of my least favorite things to do.
